the lecture entitled “City – Citizen – Space. Case of an Inclusive Spatial Practice in Karachi -
Pakistan”.

Sadiq Polack and Christophe Polack Partners at The
Architects Polack and teachers at the Faculty of Architecture - KULeuven
Belgium, have lived and worked together in Karachi and Brussels since 2000,
amalgamating their diverse expertise into a socially responsive spatial
practice. The canvas of their works ranges from practicing, teaching, researching,
and theorizing in the fields of architecture, urban design/planning to adaptive
reuse and revitalization of tangible and intangible heritage sustaining social
and spatial transformations in contemporary cities.
Their
practice promotes situating architecture into its larger context respecting and
responding to the history, ecology, social diversity, local identities, and cultures
safeguarding the formal and informal assets. His interests are diverse, from projects
actualized and proposed range; public space indexing, recuperation of non-spaces,
revitalization of as found precincts, strengthening of formal-informal
interfaces for sustainable collective space making, density , land, and housing
issues in hyper transforming cities.
