As part of the commemorations of the centenary of the birth of Fernando Távora

As part of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Fernando Távora, the School of Architecture, Art and Design is organizing the workshop "Fernando Távora, drawing and design", which will take place from July 1 to 5 and will involve the collaboration and participation of teachers and students from the three architecture schools associated with the Programme (EAAD, Darq-FCTUC and FAUP).

The workshop aims to produce a 'Wall Atlas' based on the following themes: drawing and design / drawing and theory / drawing and external references. The program will be based on a series of conferences, visits, work sessions, discussion sessions and plenary presentations.

Registration is free.

DESIGN COMMIT 2024, the first International Conference on Design and Industry will take place at Forum Braga, from 20 to 22 May 2024. The theme of the edition is Design for Different Futures, Beyond Economic Growth.

The DESIGN COMMIT 2024 conference is a meeting point between design and industry, striving for innovation and interdisciplinary knowledge, an international event composed of a wide variety of sessions, bringing together researchers, academics, designers, expanding technology companies, business associations and policy makers, with the aim of actively fostering and developing joint reflection, in a transdisciplinary scientific exchange, which enhances the innovation through Design and Industry for a smart, sustainable and inclusive future. The conference will explore pertinent themes, including Design for different futures beyond economic growth, addressing the convergence of Smart, Social, Green, Speculative and Convertible design approaches.
On the first day of the conference, there will be a panel dedicated to the theme Transdisciplinary Paths: Research Leaders in Advancing Design and Industry for a Resilient Future, with representatives of science and research, with the intervention of Doutor João Cabeleira, at 11:30 am, representing the direction of Lab2PT.

Organization: Lisbon School of Architecture (FA ULisboa), in partnership with the School of Design (ESD) of the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA), the Department of Communication and Art of the University of Aveiro and the OIKOS research group of the Research Institute for Design, Media and Culture (ID+), the School of Applied Arts (ESART) of the Polytechnic University of Castelo Branco (IPCB), and Rethink – Research Group on Design for the Territory (CIAUD); and School of Architecture, Art and Design of the University of Minho (EAAD) and the Design and Technology Group (DeTech) of the Laboratory of Landscape, Heritage and Territory (Lab2PT), of University of Minho.
