6/9/2022 - 6/15/2022
Campus de Azurém
The University of Minho, through the School of Engineering and the
School of Architecture, Art and Design, and in partnership with the company
bysteel, launches the Specialized Training course in " Facade Technology and Building Envelope".
This training course was created in the scope of the Post-Graduation
Alliance of UMinho, a project that presents itself with a portfolio of 112 new
short courses designed in close cooperation with employers settled in the
region.
This training course focuses on the development of the concept, design,
calculation, production, installation and maintenance of complex building
façades, contributing to the consolidation and innovation in the façades
sector. It intends to respond to the increasing demand for professionals with
specialized knowledge in the area of design and construction of façades, as
well as to the scarcity of advanced training in this area, both in Portugal and
in Europe. The course will cover topics related to façade technology and
building envelope, such as:
- Legal
aspects, quality management and energy, thermal and acoustic efficiency;
- Light,
energy and solar protection in building envelope;
- Materials,
fabrication and structural and non-structural components in façades;
- Fabrication,
installation, operation and maintenance of façade.
It will also include a Façade Project Internship.
The course, integrated in the Educational Programme "Architecture
and Built Environment", will be taught by faculty from the School of
Engineering, School of Architecture, Art and Design of UMinho and bysteel
experts.
Place: Campus of Azurém (Guimarães)
Dates: from July 1st to December 17th, 2022 (break from July 23rd
and September 1st) | Classes on Friday afternoon and Saturday
morning
Duration: 190 hours; ECTS: 40
Regime: modular (semi-intensive)
The course, which also counts on the participation in the sharing of
knowledge of several entities of the business fabric and associations of
different positions in the value chain, is aimed at professionals in the sector
such as designers, work directors, supervision directors, builders and
consultants - and in general to holders of a degree in the areas of Architecture
and Civil Engineering (or similar) with an interest in façade and building
envelope technologies.
With an attendance fee of around € 1600, the course is, however, covered
by the Alliance Scholarship programme, which aims to promote excellence in the
learning process alongside financial support for student-professionals, using
merit as the criterion for deciding the amount to be awarded to each student.
Thus, students who complete this training are eligible for scholarships, the
value of which is indexed to the final classification they obtain: the 20% best
students will obtain a scholarship with a monetary value identical to the
annually defined attendance rate (100%); the following 30% best students will
obtain a scholarship with a monetary value corresponding to 75% of the annually
defined attendance rate; the remaining 50% will obtain a scholarship with a
monetary value corresponding to 50% of the annually defined attendance rate.
