On Monday, February 16, at 12:00 p.m., in Auditorium 3 of EAAD, there will be an open lecture entitled “Reversible Connections for Lightweight Systems,” given by Ornella Iuorio.
Ornella Iuorio is Associate Professor in Architectural Engineering at the Polytechnic of Milan (@polimi). Graduated in Architecture in Naples, holds a PhD in “Design, Analysis and Experimentation of Structures” and a postdoc at MIT. She was Full professor and Chair in “Architecture and Structures” at the University of Leeds, UK. She now Leads the AS_Lab (Thin Architecture and Structures) at the Politecnico di Milano, ad is Vice President for IASA. In Her Work she explores the opportunities offered by computational tools, lightweight prefabrication, and advanced manufacturing in creating innovative low carbon and resilient construction systems.

WORKSHOP: HYBRID TECTONIC SYSTEMS

The School of Architecture, Art and Design at the University of Minho will host the workshop Hybrid Tectonic Systems, dedicated to the development of hybrid tectonic systems integrating timber and large-scale 3D concrete printing
The workshop adopts a design-build approach focused on material and constructive experimentation. Over five days, participants will explore the articulation between structural, formal and assembly logics, investigating the integration of timber elements with components produced through 3D printing of cement-based mortars.

The workshop is organized between the @EAAD – School of Architecture, Art and Design, @Lab2PT – Landscapes, Heritage and Territory Laboratory, @ ACTech Hub – Architecture, Construction and Technology Hub, @laurentianu – Laurentian University, McEwen School of Architecture, and the Institute for Northern Housing Innovation.

Professor Kamila Kamińska, from the University of Wroklaw, visiting the University of Minho as part of the ERASMUS+ programme, will give a lecture at UC ‘Design and Services for Inclusion’, part of the Master's Degree in Product and Service Design at EAAD, on 12 February at 4.30 pm, at IDEGUI, Guimarães.
“Dr. Kamila Kaminska from 2005 works as a Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Pedagogy, University of Wroclaw. She is a member of Polish Society of Critical Discourse Analysis, international organization and coordinator for Eastern Europe of Discourse Power Resistance scientific movement. She took part and coordinated many Polish and international projects, among those: GRUNTWIG grant for improvement of professionals training and intercultural dialog (2007- 2009), Norwegian Grant: Learning in city spaces (2010) and European Grant in cooperation with industry (2011).” Perfil ORCID: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2401-9844
