EAUM, through its Master in Product
Design and Services, together with Fibrenamics, welcomed, on February 4, at
14h30, at UMinho Campus de Couros/ IDEGUI Amilton Arruda delivering the
lecture entitled “A Bionica, Biomimética e a Sustentabilidade: a natureza
ao serviço da tecnologia”
Amilton Arruda completed the degree in Industrial Design, at UFPE, in 1982; is a Specialist in Design and Bionics - CNPq (1985); Master in Design and Bionics, by IED Milano, in 1992, and completed the PhD Dottorato di Ricerca, at the Polytechnic of Milan, in 2002. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at IADE - UNIDICOM and UPorto - FEUP.
After the lecture, the book “BIONICA AND DESIGN, Carmelo Di Bartolo and Centro Ricerche IED: esperienze memorabile da 30 protagonista” will take place, under the coordination and edition of Amilton Arruda, will be presented. This book was recently presented at the European Institute of Design (IED) in Milan. The book gathers 30 contributions from researchers, designers, professors and collaborators from Prof. Di Bartolo, one of the pioneers in the study of bionics applied to advanced design processes. In this book we will find passages of coexistence between researchers from different parts of the world, internally to a master's degree in Design and Bionics that worked for almost two decades at the Milan IED.
According to Prof. Amilton, “this book does not intend to be a classic of highly scientific and philosophical texts, but above all to be a brief, but significant, collection of multiple narratives, experiences and approaches about the daily and professional life of each one within a master's course in design . Our interest as an editor does not focus exclusively on the themes of the project and bionics, but mainly on the transversality of approaches and life experiences. I believe that is strong stimulus for the youth of today and a model to be pursued, and to truly know that one day there was a “school” [of which we were part], in the incessant search for a new way of thinking and acting.”
