Next Monday, May 30th,
EAAD welcomes Atelier COR arquitectos, for an open class and for the opening of
the exhibition “Rehabilitation of the old resin factory in Marinha Grande”. The
lecture “There is always a story to tell”
By architects Roberto Cremascoli
(Italy), Edison Okumura (Brazil) and Marta Braga Rodrigues (Portugal,) will
take place at 11:30 am in Auditorium 1, followed by a guided tour to the
exhibition organized by COR arquitectos, which will be available until June 20
at the Ginásio'UM of the School of Architecture, Art and Design of the
University of Minho, on the Campus de Azurém, in Guimarães.
COR arquitectos: The collaboration between
Roberto Cremascoli (Italy), Edison Okumura (Brazil), Marta Braga Rodrigues
(Portugal) started in 1998. In 2001, in Porto, Portugal, they founded the
office Cremascoli Okumura Rodrigues arquitectos (COR arquitectos).
Their work has been developed
in Portugal, Italy, Switzerland and France. Among the works are the
“Renovation of the Grande Hotel do Porto and The Black Tower of Light on the
Roof” (Portugal), the “NAC - Contemporary Art Center at the Fábrica de
Resinagem da Marinha Grande” (Portugal), the “ Piazza Garibaldi and the Salita
di San Paolo in Cantù (Italy)”, “Libero D'Orsi Archaeological Museum in
Castellammare di Stabia (Italy), “Pompei Antiquarium Museum” (Italy), “Foro
Museum in Rome” (Italy) , “Renovation of the Meira Hotel in Vila Praia de
Âncora” (Portugal). The office works in partnership with Álvaro Siza on several
projects: a residential complex in Gallarate near Milan was completed (2020).
At the same time as the
architectural and urban planning activity, COR is dedicated to exhibition
design, having designed and created more than fifty exhibition structures in
recent years. Some of the exhibitions and installations designed and carried
out were: “Environmentally friendly design” (2007/Estufa Fria, LISBOA), “Remade
in Portugal” (2007/Serralves Museum, PORTO), “A step away from the dream” (2009
/Museu da Electricidade, LISBON), “Remade in casa” (2012/ EDP Foundation
Gallery, PORTO), “Porto Poetic” (2013/Milan Triennale, MILAN), “Inside the
Human Being, Álvaro Siza” (2014/MART Museum, ROVERETO), “Comfortable realism,
Alcino Soutinho” (2014/Galeria Fundação EDP, PORTO), “The measure of the West”
(2015/Teatro Rivoli, PORTO), “Álvaro Siza, Sacro” (2016/MAXXI, ROME) , “Álvaro
Siza in Italia - Il Grand Tour 1976-2016”, (2016/Academia Nacional de San Luca,
ROME), “Serralves Collection 1960 - 1980” (2017/Serralves Museum, PORTO),
“Caravaggio Napoli” (2019 /Capodimonte Museum, NAPOLI), “Roads of Arabia –
Archeological Treasures of Saudi Arabia” (2019/Diocleziano Baths, ROME).
In
2016, the office was curator, designer and producer of the Portuguese
representation at the XXI Milan Triennale, with the project “Objects after
Objects” (with Maria Milano), and at the XV Venice Architecture Biennale, with
the project “Neighbourhood, Where Alvaro meets Aldo” (with Nuno Grande).
