EAAD - Azurém
The School of Architecture,
Art and Design welcomes Architect Iván Bravo, with the lecture “Obra7work”. The
Aula Aberta will focus on
the “obra/work” and two of its meanings. Polysemous, the
word contains several meanings in
Spanish, the guest architect’s mother tongue, among them: “obra/work”, as a location of architectural construction, and “obra/work”, as a piece of art. According to this formulation, the methods of
Iván Bravo’s studio in the areas of architecture, art and design will be shown,
both through the building
approach and through the artistic approach.
Studio founded in 2002 by Iván Bravo. Architect (2002)
and Master in Photography from the Barcelona School of Design (2022). His line
of work focuses on small and medium-scale projects, constantly combining
resources and practices.
Through a methodology that
contemplates the development of each of the processes of a work, his work
places special emphasis on the definition of details and the expression of
materials. The work on scale models during the different stages of a project is
the main tool through which he explores with precision both the spatial
dimensions of a preliminary project and the constructive definition of a work.
He complements his professional work with an extensive
academic career in various universities in Chile, where he has led project
workshops in faculties of architecture, design and art, as well as theoretical
and practical courses in the area of structure and construction. He has given
talks in different countries in South America and his work has been exhibited
in architecture and design biennials in Chile, Buenos Aires and multiple
individual and collective exhibitions. His work has been published in national
and international media such as: Domus, Arquitectura Viva, Summa+, among
others.
