Masterclass: On Artistic Gesture - Registration and Thickness Back

Wednesday, 10/23/2024    EAAD – Evento online| 11h00
On October, 23rd the EAAD will host the actress Letícia Liesenfeld Erdtmann, who will give a lecture entitled ‘Of the artistic gesture - Inscription and Thickness’, which will discuss the modes of involvement and immersion in artistic practices.
Specifically, it will seek to reflect on the articulations that can emerge from the creative gesture and the way in which the subject inscribes and rubs up against the world through art. It will also look at how poetic and political contexts manifest themselves in connection with the surroundings and with the spectators or participants in the works, examining the interactions between artists, peers and the various contexts in which the artistic act takes place.
The proposal is to investigate how choices in the creative process anticipate and mould the inscription of the work in the world. We will analyse the dynamics that overflow into the body of the works, questioning whether this interaction creates a ‘thickness’ in artistic poetics. To what extent does the artistic act, as a gesture that structures us and projects us at the same time, carry this thickness? The pedagogical experiences within the framework of the ‘Artistic Narration’ course at the ‘A Casa Tombada’ educational centre in São Paulo underpin the content of this Masterclass.
To enrich the discussion, we will consider contributions from authors and artists such as Ailton Krenak, Denise Bernuzzi de Sant'Anna, Leda Maria Martins, Oscar Muñoz, Rosana Paulino, Wim Wenders, among others, whose works and thoughts stimulate a deeper understanding of the connections and contagions present in artistic practices.
