2nd Call of Application: October 15 to October 28
The 2nd phase of applications for the Doctoral Program in Architecture of the
School of Architecture of the University of Minho is opened from October 15 to October 28 2018. The
2018/2019 edition of the Doctoral Program in Architecture, will be open under
the theme: Representation and Representativeness and it will be
coordinated by Prof. Pedro Bandeira, Associate Professor of EAUM.
According
to Prof. Pedro Bandeira “This theme intents to reflect on the means of
representation going along with thinking and doing of architecture in its
different phases. At the centre is the image as a vehicle but also a privileged
place for comprehensive communication. From a circular structure, it is
proposed to develop a reflection on the image reminiscent and evocative of a
past, and the prescient and evocative image of a future, meaning, between its
analytical nature and its projectual nature.
It
is proposed to investigate the methodologies of representation and its
influence in the construction of architectural narratives. In summary, we can
ask, provocatively, could there be architecture without representation?
