    Objectives of education

    The syllabus was selected in order to provide students with a systematic, deep and articulated knowledge of the representation of forms within the scope of representation systems, as well as its teaching/learning and its applicability in the context of the creation of visual arts. The program is divided into several axes aimed at: consolidating skills within the scope of graphic representation methods; the acquisition of skills through the project methodology, so that they can build their own positioning in artistic practice, also enabling them to apply these learnings in other curricular units.

    Key learning outcomes

    - To master the scientific knowledge of Descriptive Geometry;
    - To perceive Descriptive Geometry in its cognitive and intellectual dimension;
    - To be able to use and apply technical drawing tools and projection systems nomenclature in the context of Visual Arts;
    - To use the artistic object as a pretext to approach Descriptive Geometry topics;
    - To know and understand the different representation systems: parallel or cylindrical projections; conical projections;
    - To acquire instruments for the conceptualization, analysis and representation of space and objects;
    - To stimulate the capacity of formal and spatial investigation.

    Program summary

    1. Projective Geometry - Dihedral and Trihedral Representation and Axonometric Representation.
    2. Development of descriptive geometry and artistic languages (formal, symbolic and scientific repertoire). Combinations and elements in plastic formalization.
    3. Principles of the phenomenology of form and its operability from the projective contents.
    4. Descriptive Geometry and design.
    5. Descriptive Geometry and Art - Development of Descriptive Geometry and artistic languages.
    6. Research, development and communication of artistic proposals. Applicability of geometric drawing and formal and spatial descriptive geometry in the development of proposals.

    Teaching methods

    The contact hours are entirely carried out with a theoretical and practical methodology. The programmatic content is presented in lectures, calling for student participation to be developed in an eminently practical perspective. The teaching methodology based on projects becomes feasible, by the targeted selection of instruments and working methods, constituting one of the most important aspects in artistic practice. It allows the possibility of adapting individually to each student, adapting to his/her time, his/her artistic sensibility, his/her form and his/her reality.

    Assessment methods

    The evaluation is continuous and will be carried out according to the assessment of results in practical exercises, tests, done individually and/or in groups. The collection of data for the continuous evaluation will be done through: works/projects carried out in the classes or resulting from them, either in terms of the final products, or in terms of the materials produced during the process of elaboration of the research works and that must be gathered in a final document (Individual Dossier/Portfolio) (70% - 80%); attendance, interest and participation (20% - 30%).
