Objectives of education

The contents are organized in an integrated way, in order to allow the analysis of relevant perspectives for educational intervention: starting from general aspects of the framework on artistic practices, in their relationship with society, to a deepening on specific aspects of the relationship between the artist and the surrounding universe, in the creation of expressive coherence. In a process of identification and qualification of artistic competence, by the identification of structures and methodologies, the acquisition of knowledge specific to art studies and the development of professional teaching skills is expected to be promoted.

- To reinforce the use of processual dynamics in the action of artistic creation;
- To develop aesthetic sensitivity and critical thinking in the art teaching;
- To foster capacity for observation and reflection on the idea and work of artists;
- To identify different modes of working in the context of the Visual Arts;
- To promote the application of creative strategies of artistic practice in a pedagogical context.

Teaching methods

The laboratory practice includes moments of experimentation and exhibition. The practical sessions are devoted to experimentation with artistic creation processes, with a view to developing pedagogical skills and their application, promoting affinities between artistic practice and teaching practice.
The practical work will be mostly developed in autonomous work, and the contact times will be oriented towards the presentation, discussion and critique of the results of the proposals developed. This practice is supported and sustained theoretically from the theoretical and critical programmatic content, communicated in expository methods and debate. The programmatic content is presented in theoretical sessions with image support, audio or text, which integrate the bibliography of support. The teaching methodologies include collective discussion based on debates, individually or in groups, and participation in the analysis of reference cases (text, works, exhibitions) that envisage the exchange of knowledge.
The results of critical reflection of the practical work developed enhance the consolidation of the proposals.

Assessment methods

Assessment is continuous and it will be carried out through the analysis of suggested individual or group exercises, students’ participation in debates and the demonstration of critical thinking. The final classification will be based on the completion of practical exercises (30-50%); written work (30-50%), presentation of the work and participation (10-30%).
